Anna is a mystery to me. She appears both weak and tough in public and private. After she fought with Jae Hyuk’s (Lee Je Hoon) mom head-to-head, she rushed to take medication. Followed by an evil smirk. Then became a sad puppy when Jae Hyuk came. What, which one is the real you? She again smirked behind the J Fashion designer’s back, which I couldn’t help but assume she came back to Korea this time with an agenda.

Anna loves JaeHyuk?

I couldn’t see or feel it…  She returned his kiss, so what? Besides the one time she took the initiative to rest her head on his shoulder, she didn’t show much affection toward him. It was weird to ask, are we starting over? Nothing romantic.

Jae Hyuk loves Anna?

Jae Hyuk could have confused love with caring for a close friend. I never felt JaeHyuk and Anna scenes were really about them. He ran to her after jogging suggesting to start over their relationship, but he came thinking about Young Gul (Yoo Ah In). How could a low class person like him possibly knew the foreign designer? Jae Hyuk kissed Anna after witnessing Young Gul got arrested. When Anna asked who Jung Ah was, he replied “Nobody,” not so Anna wouldn’t be jealous. She wasn’t even jealous! He was disgusted at Jung Ah, not because she interrupted the kiss, rather she called the police on Young Gul. Jae Hyuk drove Anna to work, she was obviously feeling down. He said couple encouraging things but immediately lost his focus when a call came in, sounded like a silly call too, Jimmy guy. Their scenes were really never about them.

Jaehyuk might be rich and cocky, but he is a good person. He didn’t help Young Gul, because he didn’t believe the unbelievable story, just like you and I didn’t believe the story. However, he got Ga Young (Shin Se Kyung) back into the NY Fashion Show and bailed her out or whatever afterward. He despised Jung Ah for calling the police on Young Gul. A person like him wouldn’t treat Anna, his x-girlfriend badly. I love how he held her hand to show his support after her debut show failed. He offered to drive her home after the kiss. He embraced her in his arms once found her lost it all at the sink. He changed the door lock to protect her from the intruder, his mom. It was all really sweet, but more like a caring friend than a lover.

Jae Hyuk never once says he loves Anna. He rent out the whole theater to watch movie by himself, not with Anna. He was exhausted, and Anna was the root of the problem. Anna almost became a burden for him. That’s not love…

Anna & Young Gul & Ga Young

Anna & Young Gul are cute as hell! Haha! Funny how she thought he was gay. Lol!! I believe Young Gul can bring out the happy Anna. I ship them! I also love Ga Young & Young Gul though, thank god none of the usual bickering between the main couple… It was adorable when the nice Ga Young appeared all jealous and grumpy in front of Anna unnie. Hehe!

A little about Ga Young, I love the character! She told Madam Jo she could leave, but Madam Jo should return her some money since her parents started the business. Then she ran into issue with her school admission in New York and reached out to Jae Hyuk. Instead of helping, he just wanted to push her away by giving her money. She marched cooly into his office that I thought she would return the money then, yet she yappadiyap this and that and ended with “I’ll use the money wisely.” So realistic. During her lunch of Jung Ah and Jae Hyuk, Jung Ah was all sarcastic. Should I ask my mom to help you? Sure, can you ask? lol! The girl doesn’t back down, I like!

I hope this story will focus on friendship, rather than blindly chasing after love and fame. We’ll see how it goes. Great cast! I love them!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for the next episodes!

In the long run, it’s difficult to tell whether the strong cast can keep making up for the weak production team. The behind the scene screw paid so little attention to detail. A few to name:

• Ga Young checked her email from “a folder,” not a webpage. Her acceptance notice was written in poor English. She didn’t inform the school of her acceptance in advance. It’s 21^st century, you register class online.
• Young Gul’s journey to America was such a joke! Even though Korea is small, do you need to escape all the way to America? What happened on the boat? What was with Rolex watch? How did he even sneak off the truck? How did he get from Mexico to NYC like nothing? Unrealistic.
• Ever since I got my first cell phone, I don’t remember anyone’s phone # but myself. Young Gul got extraordinary memories to know all those phone numbers.
• “Stinky Asians.” Unnecessary. Worst, the scriptwriter was being racist.
• The fashion school looks cool, except it’s really an engineering school in real life.
• Ga Young and Young Gul were so poor, yet they wore Rolex and brand name items.
• Young Gul and Ga Young met since youth, such cliché. However, this is forgivable since they want to establish quick relationship between the characters. It helps the drama moves at a fast pace.
• The tone was inconsistent. Those gangsters were meant to be scary, I mean Young Gul fled to America, but the gangsters appeared so silly. Three Koreans got threw off the boat, yet funny music was playing and Rolex was such a joke!

I find “FASHION KING” totally entertaining mainly for the cast’s effort, they brought the characters to live.  The production team just needs some work, a lot of work, especially with “Love Rain” coming out. “Love Rain” PD + scriptwriter are such perfectionist – from selecting beautiful OST to sceneries. I hope “FASHION KING” PD + scriptwriters will pull themselves together, research on their topic (or just write about what they know best) and pay attention to the detail. Be logical.

It’s officially 2 weeks countdown to SBS “Fashion King” premiere! The “Yes! Americaaaaaa” at the beginning was such a joke! I’m glad they filmed in NYC,  Time Square brought back so much memories for me. My Yuri, or rather Choi Anna, looked fabulous in bright colors! She was totally peeking at the naked Yoo Ah In! haha Kidding!

So many rumors are flying around about Yuri’s 4 passionate kissing scenes. This is Korean production, meaning I don’t think the scriptwriter even knows how the story will progress just yet to pre-determine there will be 4 specific kissing scenes. Stop freaking out! I don’t have problem with kissing scenes, Yuri is no longer a teenager, but let it be real kisses. A peck on the lips does not count, and it’s LAME!

The 3 competing Tuesday and Monday dramas give a very different vibe. I haven’t seen the pre-modern MBC “Love & Shadow,” although I adore Son DamBi very much! Oh and thinking of which, I believe Yuri is close to Son Dambi too. Poor girl, she’s basically competing with her unnie and dongsaeng. I definitely will follow Yoona’s KBS “Love Rain” as well.

I’m no stranger to “Love Rain” PD and scriptwriter. My site “Endless Love” (AKA “Autumn in My Heart”) was named after their drama. So far, “Love Rain” teasers gave a very “Autumn in My Heart” feel from the beach to the painting scenes. The beautiful piano piece was sad and romantic.

I’m excited for both dramas!

Because I had work, I couldn’t fly over to NYC early to attend David Letterman and Live with Kelly recordings. In fact I flew out right after work on Wednesday night, crazy I know! When I reached Gansevoort Park Hotel at 11:30 PM, my friend immediately dragged me to Best Buy to queue in line. “Fans already line up. We gotta go!” They were joking, right? We arrived around midnight and were like # 70 or something already. It was cold, but Sones were pretty civilized. We talked, blasted SNSD’s music, and danced. The couple next to me was all cute, hugging, warming each other up in the cold. Honestly, I was kinda jealous! It was a bummer to learn Jessica left as well. I decided to fly over when I heard confirmation Jessica would make it there. I went for 9. By around 6 AM (Best Buy’s door opened for us), there must had been 1000s of fans outside. Unfortunately only the first 300 received wristbands to enter the fansign.

My friends and I passed out when we returned to the hotel from 8 AM to noon. One time when we got out of the hotel, 1 of the friends forgot something, so we waited in front of our door. Two Asian girls walked toward us and asked… “What you guys doing here?” I was really confused by the question (slow reaction like Sica’s lol) and showed the hotel card… “It’s our room…?” My eyes shifted to the shorter girl next to her. Oh my god! It was SUNNY!!!!!!! She just quietly stood behind the staff member. She probably just got out of shower, her hair was all wet. Ah, the girl was tiny!!! Only then we realized, SNSD’s rooms were on the same level as us!! (Thank you to the oversensitive staff member!) We weren’t sure how to react, so we just left… I got to say the girls were really loud! I could hear them when our door was closed. So typical of SNSD though, youthful and cute!!!

The fansign was daebak! The crowd was a little chaotic in front of Best Buy, but it was understandable. I really wanted to get Yuri to sign on my YulSic’s photobook, but unfortunately Best Buy staff said to use “The Boys” booklet only. The staff was totally friendly and cute. They climbed on ladders to film and take pixs of the girls. I doubt they really knew SNSD in the same way we did, but they got caught up in the moment. It was cute.

Tiffany was the first person to sign, and on from there. OMG! SNSD really made good eye-contact. They really looked directly at you attentively as if they were listening to something very important. It was really sincere, friendly and warm. Technically all of them aren’t very photogenic, they look 100000000000 times prettier in real life. They were glowing! So damn gorgeous, all of them! They all thanked us for being there, but I froze on the spot… lol… To Hyo, I said sorry about hearing her mentee left, she didn’t understand though. haha! She smiled sweetly, so SooYoung saw me all nervous and smiled too… lovely smile and greeting… lol

Since I performed so horribly, couldn’t speak to them right, I decided to ask them for handshake instead. I forgot whether it started at SooYoung or Yoona, I believe YoonA though… I couldn’t remember much what was going on, except their pretty faces…  sorry I was kind of on cloud 9 at the time. But yes, I SHOOK HAND WITH SNSD!!!! Keke!

I remember Taeyeon and Yuri very well though. Taeyeon’s hand was cold, I was sad.  I put down a small 3 peas in a pod on the table. She was surprised but chuckled / giggled almost immediately as well. I almost could see her eyes sparkled. Ah… how did it feel… Well, I guess… having a debut and fansign for the first time outside of Korea, and it was also in America, the girls didn’t know what to expect. However, when Taeng saw the peas, I felt as if she recognized that familiarity among the Asian and American fans. Ah peas again… We’re all the same, we love her the same way. I felt as if the peas put her at ease for that one brief moment. That moment was really special to me.

Yuri was the last one… my bias!!!! I didn’t remember if I shook her hand, I don’t think so… I put down a Mickey Mouse wearing Chicago tee. She pointed at it immediately. She asked me something really softly, but I couldn’t understand… It was either… Were you from Chicago or trying to figure out “Chicago” as “O” was a Mickey Mouse’s face, it could’ve confused her. Whatever it was, I told her I came from Chicago. I flooded her with English – random stuff… I like you the most. I can’t wait to see Anna! You’re so pretty! Thank you! Something along that line… she was really warm to me… kept bowing, smiling and thanking and more bowing and smiling, so was I…I had the longest exchange with her… she appeared so grateful… My Yuri was beyond beautiful!!!!!!!!! I ran out the place in excitement that I forgot if I shook her hand, forgot to stay back to wait for them to leave Best Buy…… lmao!!

The friend next to me got a cold stare though. lmao!!! Honestly, I wanted to feel bad for her but it made me felt so good. Hahaha! Sorry! Hahaha My friend saw Yuri more than me as she stayed longer.

Later that night… When my friend and I left for dinner and shopping, I opened the door and 3 people were right in front of my room… I nodded/ slightly bowed to the staff who was on the phone to acknowledge her presence. (If I don’t say “hi,” that’s how I greet people whether I know them or not.)  I saw the back of a girl entering the room right across… It was probably SeoHyun as I later learnt it was her room. I also had a quick look of the girl on the floor. I believe it was SooYoung, but I wasn’t sure for I didn’t want to stare at them.  My friend and I just went on with our personal business.

When we returned and approached the elevator, I saw Hyoyeon, Taeyeon and the staff at the elevator. Hyoyeon didn’t notice us, because she was playing happily on her phone. Man that girl was tiny! Haha! As for Taeng who stood closer to me, our eyes met, we were really calm and collective. I nodded / slightly bowed to greet her, and she politely returned a bow as an acknowledgement… She probably had no idea how hard it was for me to contain my excitement. OMGGG!!! Kim TaeYeon met me at the eyes and greeted me!!! haha! I love her soooo much! I wonder if she recognized me from the fansign. Anyhow, we stood there for a little bit, I remember thinking how she was kind of tall cause of her heels. We could’ve gone up using the same elevator, but we didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable, especially when we shared the same floor. We waited for the next one.

Among my group, I left the earliest … 4 AM on Friday. I had work on Friday. When I left the hotel, one of SNSD’s rooms was still awake. They were chatting all loud too. Was it Yoona preparing for her early flight? I was so tempted to scream “SNSD – I’m leaving!!!” but I didn’t…

Even though I didn’t run to SNSD as much as my friends, the trip was overall a success for me. Yuri always gave me the best fan service, thank you! Jessica is really playing hard to get! Let’s meet next time! Taeyeon has always been my 3rd bias, but I’m in denial, too afraid to love her as YulSic… That means I have to buy merchandises in set of 3, instead of set of 2… hahaha! (3 notebooks, 3 photo cards, 3 caps, 3 Vita bottles, 3 Spao Tees, 3 key chains, you got the point.) I don’t think I can afford Taeyeon… However, my love for Taeng has been growing exponentially the last several months, I don’t think I can resist for long. I just adore her so so so much! Every little thing she does make me happy, ahhh!  Wonderful trip! Thank you SNSD!

[Fashion King] What I got so far about Choi Anna (very roughly)…

Anna (Kwon Yuri) is an attractive young designer. She and Jaehyuk (Lee Jehoon) used  to be an item but they were forced to seperate by Jaehyuk’s side. Anna then went to the U.S. to work in the fashion industry where she had  to fight her way against discriminations and they finally accepted her  there. She got to work under a world-famous designer and tried to use her position as a way to the top but it wasn’t easy.

Anna and Jaehyuk met again in the U.S. and were offered to work  together. Even it was paindul for her to work with him, she determined  to get him back, so she had accepted the offer. It seemed like a new start for the couple but Jaehyuk resisted. All he cared about now was Gayoung (Shin Sekyung). Out of desperation, Anna turned to Younggul (Yoo Ah-in) and ended up falling for him.

Anna doesn’t sound spoiled or obnoxious as I expected. That’s a plus! But uhm, Anna leaves for the US, does it mean she’s fluent in English or at least is required to speak in English at one point or another? lol!! …  Oh my god Yuri! She must be freaking out! haha!

I guess now I need translation Younggul’s storyline, since he supposes to like Gayoung too. I want someone to love Anna too……. I’ll love her.

Based on this story line, Anna might not show up as much at the beginning since she’s away in US, while the other 3 build their relationship in Korea?  Can’t tell how they’ll pace the drama… I hope for something quick, love at first sight for instance so Yuri can appear as soon as possible.

I was very happy when I read about synopsis for this new drama from Kitty-nim over at Servabote(http://seeksik.com) so I got her permission to translate and post^^ Not sure how she found out about the synopsis for Fashion King but I’m not gonna ask cause I know that if she wasn’t sure she wouldn’t have written about it……

Fashion King is about Rise and Fall of a man in a fashion industry.
He will start with nothing and will become the “king” but because of too much ambition he’ll lose it all…..
Ain who doesn’t do things in typical way, as we all know won’t be playing the “prince” type of a character,
Ain’s character will be more complex but not so tragic and serious as Gul Oh……
so the other guy(sorry don’t remember his name, Jae Hoon??) will be playing the rich boy/prince and of course
Ain’s rival…..
Se Young’s character is of course the woman in between the two men……
Supposedly she will end up choosing, get this! the other guy!!!!!
Yuri’s character is in love with Jae Hoon’s character but only from a far but when she realizes Jae Hoon’s character
only has eyes for Se Young’s character, she use Ain’s character to get back at Se Young and maybe make Jae Hoon
jealous??? and I hope I’m translating this part correctly but I think Ain and Yuri’s character will get “physical”(kya~~~~~)

So there you have it basic synopsis of Fashion King and the “love line” that will be going on between the 4 main characters..
(I actually didn’t translate Kitty nim’s post words for word, I basically summarized it and used my own words in some parts..)

I’m not sure what type of writer she is meaning, is she gonna change the story line as time goes on to please the
audience or sticks to the main story from beginning to the end……. we will have to watch it to find out!!
And I just knew Ain won’t pick a “prince” to play, which I’m sure he got lot of offers to play but that’s just not his style…

Some Korean fans are little worried that if Yuri can pull this off since this is her first acting role….
Her character seems complicated and she will be acting next to some serious actors…..
Well, she is coming from “idol”/singing back ground but she IS in this so good luck to them all^.^

Yuri’s character has good taste! I don’t know much about neither Yoo Ah-In nor Lee JaeHoon, but based solely on photos, Jaehoon attracts me more. I don’t like rough, gangster feel type of guy.

Slightly confused on the relationship, Yuri can only use Ah-In if he has interest in her. So both Ah-In and Yuri use each other in attempt to jealous the other two leads? How depressing of these two.

How I wish there is a 3^rd guy to chase after Yuri. LMAO! Normally I would hate the drama if the guys chase after another girl that’s not my favorite. I can’t complain this time though. I’m just so happy I’ll get to see Yuri, Kwon Yuri acts!

Even though I love romantic comedies, I prefer witty scripts over excessive comical expressions. Yet, the first episode was mostly about wacky expressions, trying too hard to be funny. Yoo EunJae (Lee Si Young) and family partied like idiots at karaoke bar and cheered all wild for the Blue Seagulls at home. Then all the “words” smacking effect when Park Moo Yul (Lee Dong Wook) reading negative comments online and his reactions to it are just a few scenes to name.

Maybe because I’m a fan of KPOP, I was particular fond of the fan signing scene from the obsessive fans’ screaming to MooYul angering EunJae indirectly through the Seagulls vs Dreamers conversation with fans. And bammm, an egg landed right on his face, cut short his loud and annoying laughter. I like, I like! I ended episode questioning – Is there even a point to this drama?

I’m glad the answer is a YES, episode 2 was a much better ride! Someone attempted various ways to harm MooYul. Was it an accident or manmade to trap MooYul in the elavator? I believe it was intentional. However, what was the motive? Just to threaten him? I mean, you wouldn’t expect a healthy male athlete like MooYul to die from the lack of oxygen before someone would come to rescue? The herbal drink was definitely planned, but was it the same person who threw the egg? I didn’t think so. The attack personalities seemed different – upfront vs. backstab. Who could it possibly be? Jin DongSoo (Oh ManSuk)? At least current portrayal appeared to direct us toward him; how he could be jealous of MooYul’s soaring popularity, while his career was flopping. I hope it’s someone else though, someone unexpected, yet reasonable…

It was unexpected when DongSoo introduced his wife. He married already? What? At one point I was imagining his relationship with EunJae could grow romantically…  Since EunJae saw his wife met up with MooYul secretly couple times, her creative mind probably concluded they had an affair. Did DongSoo think the same? Could it be another source of his jealousy? Probably not, Dongsoo should know his wife had a relationship to MooYul’s x-girlfriend (Jessica), and she only played as a messenger… Ah, I’m looking at the relationship map and getting ahead of myself… lol!

Anticipating and guessing make the drama a whole lot better for me though. I can’t wait to get more hints on the attacker, better be good ones!

Overall, episode 2 was better than 1 for me. The humor was decent as well, started warming up to the leads.

Airport: On Sat, I came at the airport around 7 PM to wait for Soshi’s arrival. I totally represented YulSic with my headband. Everyone was asking to take photos and such throughout this whole trip. *Embarrassed* SNSD’s securities are such good actors, they made it as if the girls was really going to come out in the front entrance. Like the earlier groups in the morning and the LA one, the girls came out on the side entrance. We didn’t believe the airport securities as first, thought he did it to trick us, until this angel man screamed, “THEY ARE ON THE SIDE!!!”  or something like that. Didn’t think twice I ran out… I saw Yuri’s back before she got on the huge SMTOWN bus. *Awww* I didn’t have much luck with her this year. I saw Sooyoung, Taeyeon, SeoHyun, HyoYeon, Sunny, Tiffany, anddddddddd JESSICA!!!! OMG I finally got to see her!!!!!!!!!!! Love love love!

W Hotel #1 – Sat Night: My friend and I took the train back to their hotel, so we got there kind of late… The girls already went in. We stayed long enough to see Jessica walked out with her 2 friends!!! My pretty gorgeous!!!!!!! I thought for a second should I chased after her? Should I? Should I? This maybe my only chance to give her the gift… How bad can it be, I ran off and chased after her…Umm… Her walking back looked very sexy…. Haha I’m 1 delusional fan but no totally sexy star walk. She and her friends stopped at the end of the block to catch the cab. She was already hopping on the cab when I caught up to them. I gave my YulSic gifts & fanletters to them.  It’s nothing much, just 2 cute message dolls. The messages I wrote were like: “To Jessica…. something cheese… – From Yuri” and the other way around for Yuri. Haha! I went back to meet my friend and left around 1 AM in the morning.

W Hotel # 2 – Sun Morning: I saw Amber the moment I came. I put my hand up for a high 5 and she hit it. Haha! I’m liking that girl now, really cute and fun. I waited 10-3 – cold and hungry. Finally, they come out ….. Krystal, Amber, Luna, etc…. The whole damn bus for 5 people or so? They’re crazy!?!? I like F(x) but not enough for this kind of desperate wait. One failed morning.

Madison Square Garden: Man the line for the merchandises was longgggggg! I gave up after an hour in the cold and all the walking earlier in the weekend. The concert was great but I really need an SNSD solo concert with just SNSD and Sones. I just didn’t see enough of them, and majority of the time they stood in the front stage. *Sad* The moment Yuri came to my side and I could see her face clearly, OMG she took my breath away. Honestly, that moment made my trip. I just loveeeeeeeeeeee her!

Korean Restaurant – We got a call from our friend that SMTown arrived at K-Town, so we took the cab there. Again, we joined the fans in line. I saw random stars like Ryewook, Henry, Amber, Kangta, etc. I didn’t know how long it took but SNSD came out. But they came out! TaeYeon, Seobaby, YoonA, Sunny, Sooyoung, and my baby Jessicaaaaaaaaaaaaaa once again. (Where the heck was Yuri!!! She hid so well.)

The timing was perfect; we got on the cab right when the SMTown bus started moving in front of us. Yes, we were chasing after the bus back to the hotel. We saw them come off. Haha! Then I realized I lost my phone!!!!! The damn cab took $50 before he returned the phone back to me. He read my text and took my Yulsic’s keychain. WTH was he planning to do with it? Creepy.

Fanmeet – Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend any event on Monday. L I had to return to Chicago for other commitments.

Overall, New York was a great place for tourists, which I had so much fun traveling in Time Square, Chinatown, Korean Town, Rockefeller Centers, etc. I met up with different group of Sone friends. Then the girls came and all I did was walking and waiting. It was impossible to find them considering the many people, shops, and restaurants. Even if I was lucky enough to pick the right shop, it would be 3-4 floors!

Last words to Yuri, can you please not playing hard to get? It’s not good for my heart… I want to see you!
