SNSD’s YulSic
What’s with the pairing?
K-Pop fans like to pair their favorites, regardless if it’s girl-girl, boy-boy, or boy-girl. Sones (SNSD / Girls’ Generation’s fans) are huge when it comes to pairings. YulSic (Kwon Yuri & Jessica Jung), JeTi (Jessica & Tiffany), TaeNy (TaeYeon & Tiffany), and YoonYul (YoonA and Yuri) are the more popular couples in SNSD.
Why Yul for YulSic?
Korean pronounces “R” as “L,” so people call YuRi as Yul for short.
At one point fans also refer to them as YuSica, but YulSic wins in the end, presumably ’cause Yuri mentioned it at a radio show and Jessica autographed it in that fashion.
Who’s in the Royal Family?
YulSic is known as the royal couple, I guess originated from Jessica’s nickname – Ice Princess. Jessica and Yuri are wife and husband respectively. YoonA is dubbed as their son, who is married to SeoHyun - whose parents are TaeYeon and Tiffany, or better yet TaeNy.
Different fandoms have their own stories. If you’re a YoonYul’s fans, daddy and son will turn into husband and wife. That sounds so wrong. LOL! It’s all for fun.
Why YulSic for me?
I adore Jessica and Yuri as individuals artistes, so it’s only natural for me to become a YulSic fans too. To know they’re such close friends and an SNSD legendary couple is a plus.
Jessica and Yuri remind me of Rachel Green and Monica Geller from my favorite sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Rachel is a princess that you wish to spoil and protect. Her best friend Monica loves to cook for people and is a chef, while Rachel has absolutely no sense at that form of art. Monica’s also competitive and a neat freak. Her buddy doesn’t know what to do with kids. That’s so Yuri (Monica) and Jessica (Rachel). When I follow SNSD, it’s like rewatching F.R.I.E.N.D.S. all over again, and YulSic plays the best of friends.
Whether it is Rachel-Monica, Jennifer-Courtney, or Jessica-Yuri, I envy their friendship. How they laugh, cry, and share abundant moments in life together. How they love and take care of each other. It’s sincere and real. In the end, I wish YulSic’s friendship can be like Jennifer Aniston (Rachel) and Courtney Cox’s (Monica), which last even after F.R.I.E.N.D.S. ended.
